Brave, honest, intense writing
This book is not just for those suffering the loss of life. Life can be lost in other ways too. I read this book after being betrayed by my spouse. Grief fell on my life violently, just like a death had occurred. 'An avalanche of losses' is what Janis Spring calls it in "After the Affair".

Stephanie Ericsson's book takes you through an impossible journey. Her personal strength and warrior spirit found a way to move beyond the pain of an unimaginable tragedy.

Within this book lies a deep understanding of grief, and a way which exists to overcome. In each chapter, she tortures you with the rawness and honesty of her personal journal through crisis. Then she offers relief by showing the healing and perspectives gained in time. As the title states, this book can be your "Companion Through the Darkness".

not pretty, or superficial --- this book's honest!
The first book on grieving that I haven't thrown across the room in disgust! The first one I've read that actually put real, honest words around the horror of losing the love of my life. I find myself wishing friends and family would read this one, but I don't think I would have been able to before my husband's death. A must for facilitators of grief support groups, especially if they have never experienced the death of a beloved spouse themselves.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!
I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS NOVEL.IT IS THE ONLY BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER READ MORE THAN ONCE. I HAVE BOUGHT COPIES TO SHARE WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST A LOVED ONE. EVEN THOUGH IT IS ABOUT A WOMAN WHO HAS LOST HER HUSBAND, ANYONE WHO HAS SUFFERED A LOSS COULD APPRICIATE THIS BOOK. IT IS SO HONEST , GUT RENCHING AND AMAZINGLY WRITTEN YOU CAN FEEL EVERYTHING THAT SHE IS FEELING.AND IDENTIFY WITH HER WORDS, MAKING YOU FEEL THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS.
