From first-hand experience, I know it works
As a former homosexual myself, I found this book to be compassionate and enlightened. I found it to be the most clear, direct, helpful and compassionate guide to change ever written (and I have read quite a few). There is no homophobia here. There is no attempt to change those who do not want to change. There is only a program to help those who are unhappy with an unwanted homosexual condition to find the real emotional healing they are looking for in the arms of others. (If "reviewers" actually read this book, they would see that.)Unfortunately, when I was struggling to find my way out of homosexuality, this book was not yet written. My obsession with men and my desperate search for a man to "fix" the hole in my heart left me constantly unfulfilled and miserable. For me, being "gay" was anything but -- despite my attempts at "gay pride" and "coming out." Finally, I found a path to authentic healing. It has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience of my life.
When I read Cohen's book, I was amazed to find the healing journey I had experienced was nearly identical to the method he describes. I know it works. It worked for me. In fact, it saved my life.
Why does my experience and Cohen's experience threaten gay activists who claim to want tolerance but are the most intolerant of a different view? If you're gay and proud, fine. But don't attack others for finding wholeness and healing in "coming out" of homosexuality rather than indulging it. There can be more than one legitimate response to homosexual feelings.
It's okay to be ex-gay.

Thanks.
I read this book and appreciate all the research that has gone into it. I also appreciate the "other" side being revealed. As a former lesbian, I sought to successfully change my lifestyle many years ago. Until this book, the only information was the more politically correct theory that if you didn't approve of homosexuality or wanted to get out of this lifestyle then you were homophobic. That is not true. In his book, Dr. Cohen points out many reasons for a wrong same-sex preference- reasons that confirmed what I had understood about myself. His book ,for me, affirmed the right decision I made several years ago as well as giving me a deeper insight into the areas where I continue to need healing. It is a life-long process. I am now happily married, not perfectly married, but happily married to a man who has stood beside me as I have grown day to day. I am greatful for change and encourage all those who may desire change in their life to a heterosexual orientation to read this book. Positive change is possible despite what some would have you believe. There are no guilt trips in this book. Just truth and freedom.

I have a better book
Wayne Besen has met Richard Cohen too, and has done his homework on this conversion therapy. It's all a sham, Cohen should be ashamed of himself. He wants you to believe homosexuality is caused by distance from your same-gender parent, which it is not. No reputable therapist believes that anymore. Read Anything but Straight instead if you want the real "straight" scoop on conversion. I'd have rated 0 stars if I could. Similar Products
