Some common struggles of the overweight-you're not alone!
Once I started reading this book, I could hardly put it down! I was amazed as I read Rosemary's account of her struggles-she sounded just like me! The 1996 paperback printing by Warner has a chapter added at the end in which Rosemary tells of her additional weight loss (she was then down to 135 pounds!) How encouraging to me that someone else goes through the same struggles with food that I do; and had the courage to write about it! Also, Rosemary acknowledges that her struggle with weight control will last her entire life. It's not just another "diet and go back to your old ways" book. A "must read" book for anyone who longs for day-to-day control of their eating habits, and encouragement that, yes, it can be done!

Diary Of A Fat Housewife
This book is one that I keep coming back to over and over again each time I get off track with my diet and need true motivation. I see Rosemary's struggles and can see them in my life as well. We all know that we don't always get the support to lose that we need and she is candid about this. She offers advise for how loved ones can help the obese. I know that Rosemary has kept her weight off for several years and that is a huge motivation for me to know that she did it and I can too...once I get to goal.

Candid, inspiring memoir!
The author writes with heartfelt pain about being obese. Anyone who has struggled to lose more than 30 pounds knows how difficult it is and how temptations are lurking behind every door, particularly the refrigerator door! I loved her sense of humor and her unwillingness to believe that "Big is Beautiful". She emphasizes the right approach to losing weight, which is loving yourself patiently through the process. I marvelled at her ability to take it one day at a time and to finally achieve the goals she set for herself. She is an inspiration in every sense of the word, and not just for her loss of weight but for the beauty of her spirit which glows from every page.
