A very accessible lesson in modern ethics and philosophy...
This is not a book that only be useful for professionals. On the
contrary, it provides a way to understand morality's universal and local
functions that will be useful to anyone who plans to live a life that goes
beyond tribal boundaries. In fact, it helps us understand why everyone has
an obligation to develop the communicative, rational, moral skills needed
for judging the legitimacy of policies that affect people from different
cultures and ways of life. It also clarifies the point of postmodern
critiques of universal values and helps the reader learn how to adjust
universal theories so that they can satisfy postmodern concerns at the
level of application.
