Although the title of this book is "Handbook for Developing Occupational Curricula", don't be misled by its name - it is in fact a very comprehensive textbook. The book takes you through a thorough examination of Bortz's unique and innovative "Curriculum Spiral Theory" and occupational analysis techniques. The heart of this book is Dr. Bortz's Training Program Development Process - which takes you through a highly analytical, yet simple process for developing an articulated, modularized, competency-based training program. The processes for developing occupational curricula in this book are bulletproof. When performance counts (shouldn't it always?), this book delivers.
There simply is too much to say about this book in this review. "Handbook for Developing Occupational Curricula", is an undiscovered gem in this field. If you are lucky enough to find a copy, read it and experiment with it - you will not be disappointed. At minimum, you will have the ability to design and develop top quality training programs for your organization or clients.
