Doesn't serve God either
The author deems the reference to 'self' in "self-help", to automatically mean 'at exclusion to all-else'(God too). Only "mal-usage" of self-help 'excludes' God.In "honest" usage, 'self-help' and 'serving/helping God' are the very same goal.In its promotion of self-debasement, this book mis-represents Jesus' purpose.
The crucifiction was the "ill-intenders'" goal, not Jesus'.Just because he put up with it (bravely), doesn't mean he approved of himself being hurt like this.Nor should 'we' approve of hurting 'our' selves like that.
You are only demeaning God if you exclude others' and God's wellbeing, in your 'self-helping' beliefs.
The author needs to realize that Atheism and Christianity have become enemies only because we refuse to respect each other. We're actually pursuing the same goal, but from different starting-points.Communication is needed, not more seperation.

Read and Take Notes!!!
Stephanie Forbes has written a powerful testimony of what has influenced our total culture, from "positive thinking" to "self-talk," and how it has impacted not only our culture, but the Christian believer as well. This is not only an indictment against the "feel good" and "prosperity teaching," that's in our society, but a wake-up call to believers to use their minds and examine biblically what has passed for "truth," when in fact it has been Satan's oldest lie.She writes with conviction, and being a newspaper reporter, she doesn't bend to put a "spin" on her topics, unlike her peers. She is honest, forthright, and uses integrity, and if you disagree with her, she gives many sources to check it out for yourself. Help yourself and do just that. You might find out that you have been fooled.
Highly recommended!!!

Scary
It is disturbing in todays world that someone would actually be as paronoid and out of touch at this author. This book has absolutly no perspective and is written from a fear-based perspective. The most disturbing thing about this book is the author is so totally misinformed. Another case of blaming Satan for something that that disputes the authors very narrow fear-based belief system.
