Textbook on land use in America
Nowhere is Tip O'Neill's oft repeated line "All politics is local" more true than in discussing the local uses of land. Property owners across the country today are engaged in a vigilent effort to protect their property values and prevent adverse land uses in their neighborhoods. One of the most dynamic political venues in 1998 is the packed room at the local neighborhood association meeting. Dr. Wolf provides an academic history of land use in America which foresees much of the current interest in local zoning and land use patterns which are gaining populist appeal in 1998. He provides an outstanding history of man made marvels such as the interstate highway system and discusses the various forms of controls placed upon land use up to the date of publication in the 1970's. Although this book has been out of print for many years, it can be found in most public library collections, and used bookstores. I found my copy at a garage sale for $1.00. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the use and protection of one of our nation's most valuable resources; its land.
