A great guide for literary-minded journalists
Of all the books I've read about writing, and that's only a few dozen, I found this one the most realistic and helpful. It gives tips and strategies you'll put to use immediately in newspaper and magazine work. The author, an accomplished journalist and college professor, does not offer magic. He describes story models that work; models for starting and structuring profiles, for organizing trend stories. And he shares some of the secrets of the great editors. This book is a great help for journalists seeking to step above basic newswriting.
