Quality Improvement for any job with people in it.
I first read this book in the late '80s. What struck me then was how similar HR management could be to Kaizen. As part of my business education in quality and production management I referenced it frequently at school and to every job I every had after that. During my masters work, my thesis addressed the use of Kaizen and quality improvement in the school systems. The knowledge contained in this book illuminates the ignorance of managers in any industry. WARNING! If you have bosses or supervisors, this book can be very frustrating. I tend to give a copy to my boss every time I quit a job.Whenever I've used the principles in my work, the results are awe-inspiring. The idea that workers should be satisfied (and not quit as often) seems to be just foreign to most managers I've dealt with.
Use this book. It lays down a foundation of how management 'has' to be for any business to be competitive. It's a pre-cursor to universal quality management policies and techniques which will be in force some time in our near future. Swiss government uses these principles across the board (well, Kaizen and quality improvement in general, not just what's in this book).
