beautiful piece of work
It is a culmination of Dr. Goetz' many laborious years of counseling people from many walks of life and with diverse personal problems. Through many anecdotes, Dr. Goetz shows that the relationship with the father is very influential on one's values and relationship with other people. Methodologies are provided for those who suffer from abuse or neglect by their fathers, which will improve his or her quality of life. It is also a great book for young fathers and fathers-to-be, giving them helpful hints to become a "Great Dad".

A necessary book to help heal childhood scars
This book made me feel like I was not the only one in the world having bitter feelings about my father. After 31 years of marriage, my parents divorced 7 years ago. Since then, my father moved out west and my 3 brothers and I have not heard from him since.

At first, I thought it was my fault, but the book helped me realize that the one with the problem was my father. Not only was he The Emotionally Distant Father, he was also the The Overt Rejecter, The Divorced Father, and the Abandoner Father (terms explained in the book).

Hopefully, I can incorporate the wisdom imparted from this book, along with continued therapy, to get rid of the bitterness and just "let it go". My father is never going to change, so I guess it is up to me.
