A fresh look at Christ living in me.
If you're looking to cut through a lot of the popular self-help confusion, and get to some real substance, take a look at this book. Hall addresses challenging viewpoints that result from his own growth -- growth profound enough that he wants to share it with the world. Take the scripture that says "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me," and extrapolate that saying into an everyday viewpoint on life. Expand your understanding from WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) to the question, "what is Jesus doing?" in my life. How do I act and react, based on a new being who governs my life, if I am a growing, maturing Christian. Do I act and react as Jesus would? What are my doubts about the big picture? Do they make sense? Am I the Christian that I think I should be, that Jesus, who lives in me, needs me to be? Have I sacrificed self for a higher need? I found the book to be like the into-the-mind journey that I experienced reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (in fact, that title is even mentioned in this book!). Hall challenges the intellect in a way more serious, yet original and enjoyable than a lot of the mainstream press, like Covey and others, who have written and rewritten the same book in fifty different ways with different titles. Hall's book will surely put a few new wrinkles in your grey matter. I highly recommend it.

The Christian Consciousness Explored
This is a fascinating look at the process by which a person becomes "Christian," the story of transformation of consciousness told in simple and entertaining but precise terms. Author Hall is a counselor of many years who uses his professional vocabulary and experience to describe to both the devoted Christian and also the curious non-Christian the journey of faith in Christ. The writer is conversant with the language of religion and psychology, interpreting concepts for the reader unfamiliar with either or both fields. He moves easily from the great thinkers of Jesus' time to those of our own and back again, plumbing the depths of writings both ancient and modern in the quest to unify the whole. With a great sense of humor and yet a deep compassion, Hall shows himself to be a friend of the seeker, and an entertaining companion along the way.
