Valued Resource with Assessment
In the past institutional knowledge has been dominated by individuals, an accumulation of knowledge over time mostly from experience or contacts. Specialists lacked multidisciplinary skills; teaming them together requires them to give up some of their individualism.

For some people their career advances with higher learning. For an organization the parallel is to advance as an organization, not just an individual.
