The Outlook is moving to the Web
The Outlook, discontinued in print with the 2000 edition, is being reinvented as a Web product. Current plans are to launch a basic site (covering 20-some industries in depth, though statistical information will be available for many more) in the Spring of 2004, and expand coverage thereafter.

Awesome government source!
The government has many good and noteworthy resources that are readily available for its citizens and other residents; this book in question, i.e., The U.S. Industry and Trade Outlook 2000, is another excellent example. This book is not published by gpo but in a joint effort between three parties: McGraw-Hill Companies ,U.S. Department of Commerce and International Trade Administration. The book is divided into 10 major sections and several sub sections. For instance under Natural Resources and Energy, one will find information on coal mining and petroleum refining. The charts, fonts, and outlay of the information is very user friendly and a treat to utilize. For a businessman this is a must have and for a librarian interested in business it is a hidden gem. Highly and definetly Recommended.
