Didn't really like the book
This book is not very well written, kind of "thin" as far as really useful information, and "New Agey" in a fairlyhackneyed way. MAybe it's just out of date, but even though it is obviously a sincere effort to share something the author thinks he knows, it didn;t ring true to me. A little condescending in tone is my biggest criticism. My only positive comment on the book is that the goal is to help others with a problem some have suffered from, namely, over-use of the Internet, and compulsive Web chatting, etc. Nice try, but I can't really recommend it.

A "New Age" perspective worth everyone's attention.
Mr. Zeichner has written a fascinating book that deals directly, on a personal level, with the gift/infiltration of the Internet into our daily lives. As the author points out, the World Wide Web has enable millions of people to make connections with others and access information that would otherwise be impossible without this medium. However, as with all technological advances, it pays to be aware of how using the Internet can affect your life, both psychologically and physically. Mr. Zeichner covers all the bases, from helpful hints and exercises to reduce the physical stress of using a computer for hours at a time, to meditations to help those who have become addicted to cyberspace at the expense of their "real" lives. Woven throughout the book are personal stories and revelations of the author. While some people may not be into the "New Age" type of approach, I think this book has something of value for each of us, whether we read it straight through, or pick and choose which sections will help us most. Personally, however, I recommend reading the entire book! Even those who are hard-core techies or "rationalists" will find jewels of wisdom that pertain to all people, regardless of one's perspective.

Zeichner's style permits readers to relate to his message.
"Virtual Survival" is a pleasure to read. It is written in a personal yet informative style. The personal revelations of the author make him accessible and easy to relate to, and the information in the book made me think about many aspects of my life, not just my Internet use. It also helped me to understand the allure of the Internet, and to put it into perspective.
